Dairy-Free Chocolate Mousse

Ingredients
  

  • 200 g dairy-free dark chocolate
  • 300 ml dairy-free cream chilled
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Fresh berries or dairy-free chocolate shavings to serve (optional)

Method
 

  1. Break the dairy-free dark chocolate into pieces and melt it gently in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water, or in short bursts in the microwave.
  2. Leave the melted chocolate to cool slightly for 5 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the chilled dairy-free cream until thickened and airy.
  4. Stir the maple syrup and vanilla extract into the melted chocolate.
  5. Gently fold the whipped dairy-free cream into the chocolate mixture until smooth and fully combined.
  6. Spoon the mousse into serving glasses or ramekins.
  7. Chill for at least 2 hours until set.
  8. Serve topped with fresh berries or dairy-free chocolate shavings if liked.

Notes

  • Make sure your dairy-free cream is suitable for whipping, as some alternatives work better than others.
  • For a richer flavour, use a good-quality dairy-free dark chocolate.
  • This dessert can be made ahead and kept chilled until serving.
